{simple} Sundays

I am *trying* to simplify things around here.
I am *trying* to shed the crap stuff around our house.
I am *trying* to do it with the kids not harassing me to keep this or that.

Even though yesterday was Saturday I had to start somewhere but today I will do more and *try* to dedicate time on Sundays to purge and simplify.

I did manage to purge a box from the garage.  It's been there since we lived here (2 years) and if we have not touched that stuff in this time, well it's time to go.  Hubby thinks I am a hoarder, that I am not but I do tend to hold onto some things for "memories" and what I may need.  Eventually I do get rid of stuff.

BUT if he wants to talk about hoarding he should look at himself.  Do you know what he keeps?  The boxes from cell phones, The GPS we got 4 years ago, the iPod he got god knows when - you get what I mean.  It's time to get rid of all this stuff.

I want clean spaces.  Maybe when the kids are gone for the next two days I can get around to cleaning the playroom/guest room.  We shall see.

I really want to do this because every third Thursday the Bulk pick up in our town takes away everything.

What would you like to simplify?

End of the {school} Year

It is the end of the year for me. Which translates into BUSY. Now I am also down a computer, seems that my beloved son and a DVD got caught in the DVD player of the laptop. Have no fear, Apple fixed it and I have to pick it tomorrow.

I am still running and will be updating you on my progress. I am trying to get it all together for the end of year activities in school.

Ta-ta till later.

A Year in Perspective

2010 was a year of many trials, tribulations and yes, even happiness.

It was the year I was not working, which was heartbreaking for me but in the end a good rest of sorts.

A year that I got the most amazing job that has the potential for me to have my dream job and get me where I would like to be in life.

The year that I let go and really let my children be who they want to be and not care what everyone thinks - they are children and let them have their style.  It's only clothes, bracelets and hair for pete's sake.

The year I really explored my creativity and was not afraid to use it.

The year I made some life decisions and hopefully I can follow through with them.

Taught and gave examples to my children on how to help others less fortunate than we are.

Went through a week's vacation without fighting with my mom!  (That's a biggie)

Made some really awesome friends, ones I really would like to keep and build great friendships with.

Connected more with my temple and the community surrounding it.

The year hubby got a really great job and is finally happy with himself and looking forward to being with this new company.

Watched my daughter, completely on her own, donate her hair for "sick children" who don't have hair (her words).

Got a new camera

Hosted a joint family event that went really well (I do love having everyone around)

There are others I am sure but I do know that these here did come to mind first.  I feel like I did different sorts of growing this year and for that I am grateful.

I see from some of my blogging friends that it is okay to get away for a while with your girlfriends and I intend on doing that.  So, in the new year I plan to get away with my friends a little bit.  Starting next month.  This year is my big 4-0 and my philosophy is birthday week, month, etc.  Lots of friends are turning 40 so it should be a great year!  I am very excited.

I also made a bucket list.  It only has one thing on it but it is a start.  I want to live abroad for some time in my life.  I need to figure that one out.

I want everyone to have a wonderful, happy, safe and festive New Year!

Project Completion

Ok, so I have been on a self imposed hiatus. Not on purpose just exhausted and too lazy to sit down and do my postings. Believe me I have lots to say and I will try to limit my posts to help me catch up.

A few weeks, scratch that, months ago I found this awesome frame on clearance at Home Goods.

The frame was originally pink with chocolate brown polka dots.

I spray painted it white and then stamped on a zebra pattern.

The frame actually has a little mirror, it is not a picture frame.

The mirror is now in and I will find a place to hang it tomorrow in her room.

Have a great night, and I will be posting more soon...

Last Day for Giveaway!!

Wow, it certainly has been a crazy week!

The Tricky Tray event is OVER and we did well but I will save that for another post since I want to post some pics of the prizes.

Then my birthday passed.

Between regular life stuff and the big event I was swamped.

Yesterday I thought a boat would take me away from all the rain.

BUT

I am just giving a quick reminder that the Give back/Giveaway is coming to a close - tonight at 8 pm EST.

Good Luck!!!

Home Sweet Home

My lovely Family on Lake Mendota

I know I am going backwards here but to be home in my own bed, there is nothing like it.  We went away as a family to Wisconsin to see my baby brother graduate.  It was Grandma, Poppy (my dad), Mom, Hubby, the 2 kids and myself.  We had an awesome time.  For probably the first time ever we were super on time for the flight leaving for Wisconsin only to find out it was delayed by 2 hours.  The airline worker could not grasp that we had to leave on Friday even though he was very persistent to try to get us to change our flight to leave the next day.  We held out and waited and finally left 2 hours later. We drove from Milwaukee to Madison, not so bad.  The kids slept all the way there - ahh peace and quiet even though they were amazing on the flight.  We got to the hotel and settled in.  We stayed at the beautiful Hilton on Lake Menona.  Had a lovely dinner that grandma decided to stay home from to sleep. Actually it was lovely until t
he waitress spilled ICE COLD WATER in my LAP!  Not so bad and then we settle d in for the night. Again, the children were real troopers.

Me and the Children at the Roof Top Garden

The next day we went to the roof top gardens overlooking Lake Menona.  Gorgeous.  Saw
Heath graduate and walked down the famous State Street.  Found and awesome little stor
e called Little Luxuries (I went back the next day to get some goodies).

The new Graduate and his favorite fans

There was a mix up on the dinner arrangements and we had a very late dinner reservation to which my mom did not think was good.  My brilliant brother came up with the idea of getting the kids room service and we rotate or something so one of us (me and my hubby) could have dinner and watch the kids.  BUT grandma offered to babysit the kids (she would not have lasted through dinner that late).  So the kids got room service which they have declared their new favorite thing and rented BOLT. YEAH!!!  SO we had a lovely dinner with my brother and parents while the kiddies watched a movie with their great grandma.

Today we went back to State Street bought the goodies, went to the University of Wisconsin's Student Union - absolutely breathtaking on the water and came home.  A lovely family trip.
