Lake Time

I am getting in some last minute time at the lake.
The kids and I are going up for two days, then coming back so I can see my new classroom and then heading back up on the weekend with the hubs for the weekend.

I still have so much to do but I will do it on Friday, somehow.

Here's a little peek into where we will be

A view of the lake from the pool

Maybe I will get some alone time in the pool

Pool Table / Grandpa's office

Dining room where we gather for big meals (during the cold seasons)

Breakfast room with mural of the houses on the lake (way back when)

We are very fortunate to have a beautiful place like this to go. My in laws have expanded the home to fit the expanding families as their children got married and had kids.

My children love it here and as a child I had a lake house to go to and hang out with my cousins (who were like siblings because at the time I was an only child). I am happy that my children also get to have close relationships with their grandparents and cousins. (My parents live just 3 blocks away and the lake is only and hour and a half away).

I will hopefully get more pictures today and post them, my mother in law has a kitchen I would die for.

Have a great day my friends.

Transformation Thursday

Finally I have a Transformation for Thursday.
I found this lovely table at Home Goods (regularly $149 but was banged up a bit and I got it for $40).

I went over to Lowe's and got some Satin Finish White spray paint and Ta-Da!

It is exactly what I was looking for and the price point as well.

My only thought now is to distress it a bit on rub it down with some smoke glaze. I will live with it a little and see what happens.

Look what's lurking in my house..

That would be a Maya-Tiger

She was lurking in the flowers after a party

She had so much fun at that party.

Can you believe those roses? Some are left over from my birthday last week and some as a gift for my Tricky Tray.

You know the trick to cutting flowers, specifically roses?

Lay them down in a room temp tub/basin of water and cut them while under water. Always keep the water full and never have the leaves from the stems in the water (they create bacteria). Roses drink from their full stem. I learned this many years ago when I took floral design as a science at community college. I still use some of my skills.

Those yellow roses are from a week ago and not from some fancy florist.

I love flowers so I am going to try and get some in the house more often.

Curtains Finally!

Can you believe that for one year I have either lived with no curtains at all or those paper shades on my windows?

I know, you are all shrieking back with disgust.

I had to, you see, I did not want to settle on something I did not like, spent too much on and was waiting to get my feel of the house and it's rooms.

So, last week while out with a friend I found something I thought I might like for the living room AND I actually bought it. Then a few days later I actually bought the rod for it.

New year, new me I had the husband hang it up and VOILA a shaded room!
I love it! I cannot believe i took so long to actually get off my tush and find something. So much so I ran out and looked for curtains for our living room windows (big thing - one window is 135" and the other is 72"). I had originally bought the metal tie backs but decided against it. I am going to go with a black sash type of tie back, I just need to get the fabric this weekend (especially since I have my new sewing machine if need be).

I have realized that I want curtains, I think that they make the room softer. I want something neutral - I can spice it up with color the base should be neutral - I think?

I am excited. I am looking forward to doing this, along with another project I have in mind for that living room....
